Help:How to edit legacy
From SWTOR Guild - Army of Darkness
The legacy page lists legacies and members thereof. Since wiki editing of tables is a bit tricky, this section gives a few pointers to editing the legacy page.
-
Upload a portrait image
- Take a snapshot that clearly shows your character's face, use Alt+z to toggle the HUD on and off if necessary.
- Open the snapshot image in a software that allows you to crop and scale images, for example IrfanView, The Gimp or Adobe Photoshop
- Select a square region surrounding the face of the character
- Crop the image so that your square selection remains
- Scale or resample the image to about 180x180 pixels (The display in the legacy list is only 50x50 pixels but with 180x180 you can also use it on, for example a separate page describing this character
- Save the cropped image, use your character name as filename, for example Ainazu.png
- Go to the wiki, log in and click "Upload file" in the menu on the left
- Select the file and upload, optionally enter a description of the image
-
Edit the legacy page:
- Click "Edit" at the top of the page
-
Create legacy listing (If your legacy is alreeady listed in the page, skip this)
- Manually scroll through the listing until you get to the point where your legacy belongs, try to keep the list ordered alphabetically
-
Add the following lines of text, but substitute "Ta'noa" with your legacy name:
{{LegacyName|Ta'noa}} |}
- Locate the listing of your legacy in the page. If you just created it, you are already there
-
For each member of your legacy, add the following text between the "LegacyName" and the "|}" lines:
{{LegacyMember|name=Ainazu |portrait=Ainazu.png |class=Sith Assassin |origin=Sith Inquisitor |style=Assassin |roles=Damage/Tank |level=50 |alignment=Dark |crewskills=Synthweaving/Archaeology/Underworld Trading |member=Yes }}One block per character, be careful to insert the new block at the correct location: Either immediately following the "LegacyName" line, immediately above an already existing "LegacyMember" block, between a "}}" and another "LegacyMember" line or immediately above the "|}" line that closes your legacy. Of course, you should substitute the information with relevant values:- name: Your character's name (A link to a page with the same name will automatically be created)
- portrait: The name of the image to use for the portrait icon (If left blank, the default portrait will be used)
- class: The character class, select one from the following options:
- origin, style: If class is blank, the origin and style are shown instead.
-
roles: The roles this character can assume separated by "/", select one or two from the following options:

Damage
Heal
Tank - level: The current level of this character
-
alignment: The Force alignment of the character. Choose between the following options:

Balanced -
crewskills: Up to three crew skills separated by "/". Exchange the skills to match your character choosing from these available options:
Armormech
Biochem
Scavenging
Underworld Trading

Cybertech

Diplomacy
Synthweaving
Bioanalysis
Investigation
Treasure Hunting - member: "Yes" if the character is a member of the Army of Darkness guild, "No" if not
- Click "Save page"
- Done!
-
Advanced - Make your legacy member list re-usable on other pages
- Just above the section for your legacy, add {{Ta'noa-Members}}, but substitute "Ta'noa" with your legacy name
- Cut the entire section related to your legacy, from {{LegacyName|Ta'noa}} to the |} inclusively.
- Save the member list page and note that you now have a red link where your legacy listing used to be. Click that link to create a new page
- Paste the member listing you cut from the original page and save
- Done! Now you can use the tag {{Ta'noa-Members}}, of course with your own legacy name, wherever you want the list to appear, typically in the member list and the main page of your legacy
- To edit your member list after this, edit a page where your list is present and look at the bottom of the page below the buttons. It gives you a list of templates used in the page. Your template should be among the ones listed, looking like "Template:Ta'noa-Members". Click "edit" by the template name and make changes as usual
